IFUT President's Letter to Minister for Education

8/5/2015 Dear Minister

I was deeply disappointed by your message today, indicating that you felt unable to attend our Annual Delegate Conference tomorrow. I was extremely shocked by your assertion that the students in UCC had requested deferral of our action. I am assured that neither IFUT nor SIPTU was made aware of any such request. Indeed a message was received from the UCC Students’ Union, indicating that they saw no threat from union action as our members expressly and explicitly agreed that the examinations should be allowed to proceed uninterrupted. This statement was in fact sworn in as part of today’s Court proceedings.

I want to assure you that any such message from students would have been brought to the immediate attention of our Executive. It was never our intention that stress or damage would be caused to our students in pursuit of the legitimate demands of our members in the Tyndall Institute.

My term as IFUT President ends tomorrow but I hope that good relations will continue to prevail between yourself and IFUT.

Yours sincerely Rose Malone President. IFUT
