IFUT Executive agrees to enter talks on post-Croke Park situation

Monday, May 20th, 2013

The Executive of the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) has decided to accept an invitation by the Labour Relations Commission to enter Education Sector talks on the post-Croke Park situation. The decision was made at an emergency meeting of IFUT’s Executive earlier this morning.

Commenting on the decision, Mike Jennings, General Secretary of IFUT, said that it is now up to the official side to prove that the talks are not just an attempt to persuade people to accept proposals that have already been decisively rejected by IFUT members.

“IFUT will be going into the talks to investigate if it is possible to achieve meaningful changes to the previously unacceptable and rejected proposals,” he said.
