IFUT comments on High Court decision to grant injunction

The Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) has noted the decision of the High Court to grant an injunction to UCC regarding the planned strike by researchers at Tyndall National Institute on Wednesday, May 13th.

IFUT will abide by the decision of the High Court.

Commenting on the Court’s decision Mike Jennings, General Secretary of IFUT, said that the issues around the treatment of researchers at Tyndall National Institute will now be referred back to the members.

“This matter will not be resolved by UCC’s recourse to spending hundreds of thousands of Euro on legal fees, while refusing to engage meaningfully to resolve inequality issues affecting researchers.

“IFUT wishes to repeat that there was no threat whatsoever to interference with students’ exams as suggested by UCC, as publicly confirmed  by IFUT on a  number of occasions,” Mike Jennings said.
