NUIM Talk: 'On free speech and academic freedom: responsibilities and complicities'

The English Department at Maynooth University is hosting a talk next Wednesday March 25, 2015 by Professor Thomas Docherty of Warwick University, on the theme of 'On free speech and academic freedom: responsibilities and complicities'.

The talk takes place at 4pm in Theatre JHL6 in the John Hume Building, on the North ('new') Campus of Maynooth.  Everyone is welcome and I attach a poster here.

You'll know that Thomas Docherty has been writing about the rise of the corporate-bureaucratic university for some time - in books such as Aesthetic DemocracyThe English QuestionFor the University, and most recently Universities at War.   His talk promises to address questions of interest to anyone working in higher education.  I do hope you might be able to disseminate information on this event to the member list.
